Emmanuel Deparis
The footbridge (or spike) enters the Channel, to slow down the currents and limit the movement of sediments. The first spike was built in 1865, and completely rebuilt in 2009. Although its existence is due to a natural phenomenon, it has become an important element of this seaside and tourist resort, between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach.
