An invitation to travel to Kerala in India, and more particularly to the backwaters. In India, there are six million fishermen, 2.4 million of them full time. Of the 300,000 or so fishing boats along the coastline, two-thirds are traditional boats without engines. Fishing is essentially artisanal and is carried out here with nets thrown from the fishermen's pirogues. The gestures are pure and the attitudes of the fishermen are of a captivating simplicity.
