Notre Dame de Kerdro statue - Kerpenhir Point
Learn more about photography
This monumental statue, by Jules-Charles Le Bozec, at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, in Locmariaquer to be precise, represents the Virgin and Child. At a height of 2.70 metres and made entirely of granite, it evokes the legend of Notre Dame de Kerdro ("Welcome back" in Breton), which says that the Virgin appeared to a fishing boat, indicating that it should turn back. The crew were thus saved from a violent storm.
