The Glénan archipelago
Learn more about photography
The Ponant Islands consist of 15 islands along the French coast between the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. These islands, which are still inhabited, have joined forces to maintain an active island life. The word Ponant was used by the French Navy and comes from "couchant" (where the sun sets) in opposition to "levant" (used for the fleet of ships based in the Mediterranean). Welcome to the Glénan archipelago in Finistère. One of the Ponant islands with crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches that will make you think you're in the Seychelles... of Brittany. Tropical countries are just around the corner, and host an internationally renowned sailing school. Hang the islands on your walls!
