Batz island , SNSM rescue station
Learn more about photography
The Ponant Islands consist of 15 islands along the French coast between the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. The word Ponant was used by the French Navy and comes from "couchant" (where the sun sets) in opposition to "levant" (used for the fleet of ships based in the Mediterranean). The SNSM Batz lifeboat is launched in the light at the end of the day. There's no time for helping out at sea! We must pay tribute to all the men and women who give up their time to protect and rescue other sailors.
The island of Batz is a discreet little island off the coast of Roscoff, which will enchant you with its fauna, flora, mild climate and tropical garden. A complete change of scenery just a few kilometres from the mainland. Hang the Ponant islands on your walls!
