Aix island
Learn more about photography
Aix is one of the 15 islands of the Ponant, between the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. The term Ponant was used by the French Navy and comes from "couchant" (where the sun sets) as opposed to "levant" (used for the fleet of ships based in the Mediterranean).
Aix Island is the only island in Charente Maritime that can be reached by boat, and the most southerly of the Ponant islands on the Atlantic coast. A little paradise, just 20 minutes from Fouras. It offers a 360° panorama, with an exceptional view of Fort Boyard. Vauban's fortified village, the Napoleon Museum and much more await you on this island, nicknamed "The Pearl of the Estuary". Hang the islands on your walls.
