Notre Dame de Kerdro statue - Kerpenhir Point
Learn more about photography
This monumental statue, by Jules-Charles Le Bozec, represents the Virgin and Child at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, in Locmariaquer to be exact. Standing 2.70 metres high and made entirely of granite, it evokes the legend of Notre Dame de Kerdro ("Welcome back" in Breton), according to which the Virgin appeared to a fishing boat, showing it the way to turn around. The crew were thus saved from a violent storm.
